LEGO® DOTS

Digital Building Platform

We partnered with the LEGO Group to create a digital platform for LEGO® DOTS that simulated the hands-on building experience in virtual form. Kids could design their own accessories, placing digital pieces just like physical LEGO bricks, bringing their creativity to life online. This interactive experience helped build excitement for the real-world products as they were first introduced in stores.

Introducing the brand new LEGO theme

LEGO DOTS brought something new and exciting to the table with small, flat pieces that let kids create colorful, mosaic-like designs for fashion accessories and home decor. To introduce this unique product line, LEGO needed a fresh digital campaign. We worked closely with them to develop a concept that captured the playful and creative spirit of LEGO DOTS.

Our research: What makes the LEGO lovers tick

Before starting the creative process, we had to dive into the needs and preferences of LEGO fans. Through surveys, interviews, and brainstorming, we learned what resonates with them, why they love LEGO products, and how the building process feels to them. Only then could we transform the real-life building experience into digital form.

The challenge: How to imitate the cherished click

Our goal was to replicate the real-world building experience as closely as possible, from selecting individual pieces to feeling the satisfaction when everything clicks into place. The user interface was designed to mirror these interactions, providing kids with a familiar, confidence-boosting experience as they explored and built in the configurator.

Because LEGO DOTS is all about creativity and customization, we also made it easy for users to share and print their designs. The aim was not only to provide entertainment but also to boost excitement and sales for the new product line.

The magic: Seamless and quick integration

When the platform was ready, the next step was making sure it reached LEGO enthusiasts everywhere. We had to ensure LEGO and their resellers could effortlessly embed the application on online stores and social media.

To achieve this, we developed a compact script – just a single line of code – that made integration quick and easy. We also provided optional lines of code, allowing stores to customize the configuration, such as adjusting the number of products displayed or modifying links. This flexibility led to rapid adoption, with hundreds of stores activating the platform. It helped drive excitement and sales for LEGO and its partners while offering a unique digital experience for customers.
